The Courtyard of Yoga Miške

Since January 2016

Yoga Miške is located in the heart of Vilnius Old Town, in a historic ensemble whose history dates back to the 16th century. The elegant, refined surroundings and an enclosed inner courtyard create a calm, cosy and quiet environment amidst the bustle of the city and the rush of everyday life.

Yoga Miške invites everyone seeking an exceptionally peaceful and welcoming space for individual yoga practice. Classes are held in small groups or individually. Practice here follows the classical Hatha yoga principles formulated by Swami Sivananda and Swami Vishnudevananda, enriched by years of personal experience and a medically informed understanding of human anatomy and physiology.

Classes include classical yoga asanas — physical exercises that engage the whole body — as well as instruction in proper breathing, relaxation and meditation. Hatha yoga flourished during the Tantra period of the 8th–12th centuries and took shape in the late Middle Ages, yet it has lost none of its relevance today, encompassing body-mind psychotechnologies cultivated through breathing practices grounded in time-tested wisdom.

Your Teacher

Yoga teacher Nomeda Kuzmina completed an international yoga teacher training course and was awarded the Yoga Siromani title by the International Sivananda Yoga Vedanta Centre — a qualification recognised by Yoga Alliance. She was also bestowed the name Shanti.

Nomeda studied at Kaunas Medical Academy, where she earned a Master's degree in Pharmacy. She continues to deepen her knowledge through studies at the Institute of Integrative and Somatic Psychotherapy.

A successful career and many years of experience in international companies — where discovery and innovation are almost daily occurrences — shaped a distinctive perspective on yoga practice and the culture of wisdom, peace and silence it nurtures.

Personal yoga practice revealed that in the pace of modern life we can no longer — and no longer know how to — stop. Stop, even for a moment. Stop before life stops us, usually at the wrong time and without warning. Practising yoga according to classical Hatha principles, conscious breathing deepens the effect of the asanas, helps to settle, to relax. Meditation teaches us to hear silence, to find inner peace and to rest in it.
